Dewsbury-Hall helps Foxes rediscover ruthless streak

Leicester breezed into a commanding 4-1 advantage in the first leg of their Europa Conference League knockout play-off against Randers, but James Maddison was forced off during the second period after requiring medical attention. The Foxes took the lead in the 23rd minute when Wilfred Ndidi exchanged passes with Ademola Lookman before side-footing the ball into the bottom corner. The Danish visitors then silenced the King Power Stadium in first-half stoppage time minute as captain Vito Hammershoy-Mistrati struck past Kasper Schmeichel to draw Randers level. Leicester regained the lead four minutes into the second half as after Lookman tried to get a strike away, the ball broke to Harvey Barnes and he turned and fired into the net. Who could be Canada’s flag-bearer for the Closing Ceremony at the Olympics?

With the Beijing Games nearing an end, it’s hard to argue with the Canadian Olympic Committee’s decision in having hockey star Marie-Philip Poulin and short-track speedskater Charles Hamelin serve as flag-bearers for the Opening Ceremony. Poulin scored yet another golden goal to lead the women’s hockey team back to the top of the podium, and Hamelin tied a Canadian Winter Olympic record with his sixth career medal by earning gold in his final Winter Games race, the 5,000-metre relay. Every Canadian Winter Olympic Opening Ceremony flag-bearer since 1998 has earned at least one medal at the Games in which they carried the flag. If Poulin or Hamelin hadn’t held the flag at the Opening Ceremony, either would be a logical choice to get the honour at the Closing Ceremony on Sunday at 6:30 a.m. ET. But having an athlete perform the task twice is generally not a thing, especially when a country has as many strong candidates as Canada. This year, like in Tokyo last summer, a larger conti...

There are some big-hitters who missed out on reaching the last 16 of the Champions League who have joined the Europa League at the newly-formed knockout round play-off stage, with Rangers facing a difficult tie with Borussia Dortmund. ‘Golden once again’: Sports world reacts as Canadian women take back gold

After four long years as reigning Olympic silver medallists, Canada has snatched back the gold medal in women’s hockey from the arch-rival United States. Canada dominated the tournament from start to finish, outscoring its opponents 57-10. And when it came time to perform in the gold medal game, the stars stepped up. Sarah Nurse scored for her record-breaking 18th point of the tournament, Anne-Renée Desbiens had a très bien performance between the pipes and, of course, Marie-Philip Poulin scored twice in a gold medal game — with one of them serving as the game-winner. All of it just six months after the Canadian women’s soccer team won gold at the Tokyo Games. The game may have wrapped up around 1:30 a.m. ET, but judging by the activity on Twitter you might’ve said it was prime time. From new Canucks assistant general manager Emilie Castonguay to soccer legend Christian Sinclair, people across the country tuned in to witness history. Here’s some of the best reaction: THEY’RE ...
