The Edmonton Oilers captain was kept off the scoreboard in a 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars Tuesday night. McDavid’s 17-game streak is tied for the eighth-longest such streak to begin a season. It also ranks third in Oilers franchise history, behind two Wayne Gretzky performances: 51 consecutive games to start the 1983-84 season and 30 consecutive games at the start of the 1982-83 campaign. McDavid’s overall point streak ends at 25 games if including games from last season when McDavid was the unanimous Hart Trophy winner with 105 points in just 56 games. “His accomplishment so far has been unbelievable,” head coach Dave Tippett said after the game.
