Pagcor distributes Christmas gift packs to 4K families in Albay, Quezon

From December 20 to 23, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) distributed Christmas gift packs to close to 3,000 less privileged families from the towns of San Andres and Unisan in Quezon Province and San Pablo City in Laguna. Pagcor likewise distributed Christmas gift packs to some 1,000 families from the towns of Sto. Domingo, Bacacay and Tiwi in Albay. Nickel Asia employees skip party, donate to Isabela and Cagayan

LWUA extends water assistance to typhoon victims

Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) Acting Administrator Jeci Lapus sought to bring back operation of damaged water supply systems the soonest time in the wake of Super Typhoon “Rolly” (international name: “Goni”) and Typhoon “Ulysses” (international name: “Vamco”). Three teams were sent to determine alternate water sources, led by Alvin Osorio, and supervision of the mobile water treatment plant by Monchie Garcia in Virac, Catanduanes (in photo). The other contingent, led by Romy Diaz and Fernan Gregorio on the other hand, was tasked to assess damaged water supply facilities in the districts of San Andres, Virac, Viga, Bato, Pandan and Baras. Momentarily continuing relief for safe water thru the mobile treatment plant – which can treatup to 90,000 liters of water per day – was provided to more than 14,000 households whose pipe connections had been damaged by the successive typhoons. DBP vows continued support to LGUs

State-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) is collaborating with local chief executives and the Department of Finance (DoF) in coming up with a package of financial assistance to help local government units (LGUs) bounce back from the crippling effects of the pandemic. DBP President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Herbosa said the package includes subsidies on interest payments on new loans to the LGUs as well as funding support to affected industries in their constituencies. “DBP recognizes that LGUs are the fulcrum of inclusive development. We are one with them in formulating responsive actions that would hasten response and recovery efforts despite prevailing challenges,” he stated.
